Hi, I'm Lydia, the creator behind Lydia Berrows Weddings and Celebrations.

In early 2024, I took the brave step of leaving my career in biotechnology to pursue my dream of creating beautiful, handcrafted wedding cakes.

My journey began when a close friend asked me to make her wedding cake. I'll admit, I found the idea a little intimidating at first. "Me? Create your wedding cake? You do know what you're asking of me, don't you?!"

But after some careful thought, I agreed. I wanted to play a small part in my friend's special day and create something she would remember forever. Once I had said yes, I threw myself into the challenge. Months were spent practising, planning, and gathering inspiration from countless Pinterest boards.

Then the big day arrived.

As I eagerly guided the bride, eyes closed, from her dressing room towards the reception, we stopped in front of the cake. "Are you ready?" I asked. "Open your eyes."

Neither of us expected quite the reaction that followed.

In that moment, I fell in love with the entire process. There is something truly magical about being part of such a once-in-a-lifetime celebration. Seeing a couple's faces light up when they first see their cake is a feeling I'll never tire of, and it's a privilege to create a centrepiece that becomes part of such treasured memories.

Today, I bring that same care, creativity, and attention to detail to every cake I make, creating elegant designs that are as beautiful as they are delicious.
